Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, a vibrant Christian community in Doylestown, PA, is searching for a Youth & Family Ministry Coordinator.
The Youth & Family Ministry Coordinator (YFMC) will provide leadership in the area of faith formation for families with children at St. Paul’s. The primary responsibilities of the YFMC are: overseeing Sunday morning formation for children and youth; choosing effective and appropriate curricula for their formation; communicating regularly with parents and adult volunteers; and coordinating all aspects of youth ministry in the course of the program year (September-June). Above all, we seek a Christian leader with a heart for youth and family ministry, demonstrated training and/or experience in this area, and who is eager to tend our youth program so that it grows into a thriving ministry—one which raises up our children in the knowledge and love of the Lord.

Responsibilities
Sunday Duties
Attendance at Saint Paul’s on Sunday mornings (9:00am to 12:00pm)
Plan and lead, with adult mentors, weekly youth group meetings (9:15am to 10:00am)
Plan and coordinate adults to lead the weekly children’s liturgy (9:45am to 10:30am)
Formation & Programming
Research and select curricula for children’s and youth formation
Research and select additional programming materials (e.g., children’s Sunday bulletins)
Plan, coordinate, and implement special youth events throughout the program year: back-to-school kickoff, fall lock-in, Christmas party, spring retreat, end-of-year bash, etc.
Plan, coordinate, and implement special children’s events throughout the program year: Christmas pageant, summer Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Recruit adult mentors for to participate in weekly youth formation and special events, and organize mentors into a rotating schedule across the program year
Meet at least quarterly with adult mentors to plan events and cultivate community
Develop materials for children to be used in church (e.g., “quiet bags”)
Provide insight into ways St. Paul’s can be more hospitable to children and families
Communications
Produce and send weekly email updates to parish families
Contribute youth and family related content to the monthly newsletter
Respond in timely fashion to emails with staff and church members
Contribute relevant content to church social media accounts
Pastoral
Be available for pastoral meetings with families as needed
Develop a ministry of presence among the congregation
Build a rapport with youth and children
Administration
Develop an annual calendar for youth/family ministry, in consultation with the Rector
Attend weekly staff meetings, where possible
Attend monthly Vestry meetings
Attend quarterly Christian Formation Committee meetings
Assist in the process of hiring nursery care workers
Other duties as assigned from time to time
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a person who holds a degree from an accredited seminary, or has at least three (3) years’ experience in youth/family ministry. The successful candidate will possess:
Superior oral and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills (especially MS Office Suite), and ability to learn new skills as needed (email platforms, social media, website content editing, etc.)
A high level of creativity, initiative, and motivation, with a demonstrated ability to work independently apart from continuous oversight
A positive attitude, team-orientation, and eagerness to serve
Pastoral sensibilities, and the ability to keep confidences
Supervision
The YFMC reports directly to the Rector for supervision and annual evaluation.
Hours, Compensation, & Benefits
This is a part-time salaried position, commensurate with experience
Approximate average of 10 hours per week, adjusted for the year as a whole
Possibility of an expanded position (salary and hours), pending program growth
Work-from-home potential, in addition to Sunday and weekly office hours
