God calls us to care for all of creation – including animals.
Episcopalians are no different than others in their love of animals. Expressing this love is also an essential expression of our faith. God calls us to care for all of creation – including animals. Our diocese has a unique opportunity to live into this call and meet a need in a new and innovative way by incorporating companion animals into our church communities and supporting the people who take care of our companion animals.
Since 2023, the diocese has supported efforts to reach people and animals in our churches. Specifically at St. Thomas’ Whitemarsh (adoption events, Yappy Hours, animal fostering); the Clare Project (reaching people who are unsheltered and their animals, hosting a free animal vaccine event at the Free Church of St. John); St. Alban’s Roxborough (animal blessings for veterans with animals, mid-week animal blessings for retirement community next door); St. Mark’s Frankford (established pet pantry and provides free animal vaccines).
