Job Title: Part-Time Facility Steward

Reports to: Sr. Warden

Position Description

Hourly Rate: $20 per hour. This part-time role does not include benefits, paid sick days, or paid time off (PTO)

Weekly Hours: 10-16 hours per week at designated days and times as assigned by Sr. Warden

Work Schedule: Core hours: Monday 1-6 and Friday 1-6. Other days and times as assigned by Sr. Warden

Job Summary: The Part-Time Facility Steward is responsible for managing janitorial and property maintenance tasks, ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of church buildings, and assisting with various property-related duties. Duties include deep cleaning, conducting minor repairs, unloading and shelving donated goods, adhering to organization policies, and contributing to a safe and well-maintained environment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the condition, safety, and cleanliness of church buildings and grounds, creating a welcoming and functional environment for members and visitors. The Part-Time Facility Steward is expected to contribute to the organization's mission by ensuring that the campus is clean and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deep Cleaning: Conduct deep cleaning tasks in program rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, stairways, and sanctuary. This includes routine cleaning activities such as sweeping, floor mopping, dusting, and other duties as assigned by Sr. Warden

2. Grounds Maintenance: Weeding, painting, ensure exterior drains and walkways are free of debris. Setup and reconfiguration of tables and chairs in program rooms for various activities, and other tasks as assigned

3. Un/Loading of Supplies and Donations: Unload supplies and donations from visitors and volunteers upon their arrival and stock shelves appropriately. Load donated items into volunteer vehicle(s) for use during offsite ministry and events

4. Trash and Recycling: Monitor trash bins regularly, remove bags from trash receptables and properly dispose

5. Ice and Snow Removal: Spread salt/ice melt on exterior entrances and walkways, shovel walkways, liaise with snow removal contractor to admit entry during weather events. Weather related tasks may involve reporting to campus outside of regularly scheduled days and times

6. Policy Enforcement: Represent and enforce organization policies and procedures at all times

7. Compliance and Performance: Employee is expected to be punctual and follow all church policies, including those related to safety and security and the prevention of communicable disease

Essential Job Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or combination of education and relevant experience

• Relevant Experience: Prior experience in custodial, facilities management, or general contracting

• Required Job Skills: Detail oriented, cleans facility in a consistently thorough manner, ability to address minor facility maintenance and repair issues, ability to work independently without little direction, good time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and activities as needed

• Required Soft Skills: Warm and welcoming demeanor, demonstrated social skills in handling challenging people, display excellent customer service, willingness to learn and grow in this role

• Preferred Skills: Demonstrated recent work experience in facilities or construction, possess valid drivers license and own/operate their own vehicle, recent previous experience as Sexton or comparable role

• Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting 30 to 50 lbs
