As you know, COVID-19 and the Delta Variant in particular have been very much in the news lately. Please be assured that we are continuing to monitor the situation carefully and are preparing contingency plans in the event of further escalation.  While we are praying that this will not come to pass, we will have appropriate guidance ready if it is needed.

Earlier this week the CDC updated its masking recommendations for fully-vaccinated people living in areas of high or substantial risk of transmission. Since our diocese is not at that level of risk, at the present time we are not making any changes to the protocols published on May 17.

However, in light of the rising numbers and evolving science, we ask that you continue to demonstrate our Christian commitment to love one another, especially those who remain vulnerable because they do not have access or are unable to be vaccinated. Therefore, we continue to recommend that church leaders encourage the use of masks indoors and the practice of physical distancing where possible. As always, if you have any questions please contact Canons Shawn Wamsley,  swamsley@diopa.org, or Kirk Berlenbach, kberlenbach@diopa.org. If you have not applied for a technology grant or need assistance with live streaming, please contact us.
