Mission Statement:

To maintain America’s great music invention: JAZZ; by bringing jazz to the community through performance at community gatherings; support for other charitable organizations; provide a practical form of educational development – Sanctuary Jam – for those who study music at any level; and to pay musicians a fair rate for their effort.
The Jazz Sanctuary, now in its 14th year, is poised to complete 891 events by the end of 2025. We have had, on the date of this writing (7.17.25), 33,262 visits to our events. Over 125 musicians have been employed at one time or another. Three members of our quintet have been together 14 years, the other two joined us 10 and 8 years ago. The longevity of our relationship has contributed greatly to our music performances. To my knowledge The Jazz Sanctuary has been in existence longer and reached more people than any other organization offering free music performances to the public.

We do not ask for an entrance ticket to any of our events. We do solicit funds via email and our annual fundraising. Many churches ask for an at-will donation and those donations are now part of their budget!

I ask you to join us at a Jazz Sanctuary event – given to the public without a ticket price to the performance. What I have witnessed over our 14 years are events where politics, religion, race, or creed matters not and all are welcome without question to enjoy music and bask in the warmth of camaraderie; with folks who share a love of music.
Our events have been hosted by Churches of all stripes, charitable organizations (we help them raise funds), and retirement homes.
