The Bishop’s Appeal highlights six areas of need within the diocese. This week we want to share with you with one of those - Veterans Ministries. Approximately, 70,000 veterans live in the five counties that make up the diocese. Veterans are at a higher risk of suicide, homelessness, and addiction compared to the civilian population.
The diocese maintains several outreach programs for homeless veterans and rehabilitation support for veterans with PTSD/moral injury. We have also created the nation’s first moral injury support program for female veterans and work with women who are living with MST (military sexual trauma.)
By donating to this ministry area, your funds will directly support the expansion of these programs. Contact Canon Toneh Smyth for questions and information on how to be more involved.
