My Siblings in Christ –
The Rev. Richard Alton, rector of St. Clement’s Episcopal Church, passed into the arms of Christ on November 1. Fr. Alton was a devoted servant of Christ whose priestly ministry spanned 35 years. He had a deep faith and a love for the Anglo-Catholic tradition, and I respected him for his ability to lead people to Christ.
Father Alton served as the rector of St. Clement’s from 2014 until his passing. Before that, he served in the diocese as rector of Church of the Good Shepherd in Rosemont and Saint Mark’s in Philadelphia.
I ask your prayers for Barbara, his wife and companion of more than 45 years, the parish of St. Clement's, and all those across the Church who loved Fr. Alton and were impacted by his ministry.
Services will be held at St. Clement's on November 8 (Reception of the Body & Vespers of the Dead) and November 9 (Requiem & Absolution). More details can be found at the parish website (click here).
