Haydn Barry Evans, 87, of Philadelphia, an Episcopal pastor, consultant, editor and researcher, died on Monday, April 1.
A graduate of Brown University (‘59) and the Virginia Theological Seminary (‘62), Barry served as priest and interim numerous churches, including St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, VA; St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church in Washington, DC; St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA; and Trinity Church Gulph Mills in King of Prussia, PA, among others.
He worked on the staff at the College of Preachers at the Washington National Cathedral and later as U.S. president of the Grubb Institute (a consulting firm that works with faith-based groups, among others) in Washington, D.C.
A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at Gloria Dei (Old Swedes') Episcopal Church on May 17, at 11 a.m.
