9/11 service

You are invited to join  for a somber service of sung Morning Prayer on September 11, 2021, as Washington Memorial Chapel commemorates the 20th anniversary of the attacks that took place on September 11, 2001.  The service will begin in silence and prayer in the Chapel. Following the service, the group will process to the gravesite of Louis J. Nacke II, one of the heroes of Flight 93, who is buried in the Washington Memorial Chapel Churchyard.  The church welcomes all first responders to join us for this service.  During the service, Rev. Thompson will offer a prayer for all first responders.

Throughout the morning, the bells will be tolled from the Washington Memorial Chapel Carillon tower to mark the times when the planes crashed and when the towers collapsed.  When the bell tolling occurs during our service, they will pause for silence to remember all who died as well as those whose lives were forever changed.
