The Photography Club at Calvary St. Augustine Church - for children in grades 6-12 - will meet from 3:30 to 5:30 on the four Wednesdays in July.  The organizers are looking for both donations and volunteers in support of the program.

The club organizers - the Rev. Renee McKenzie, who had the idea for the venture, and the Rev. Cathy Kerr - both bonded over their love of photography.

“The goals of the club are to encourage self-expression and self-reflection, to get the kids started on a life-time learning skill with employment potential, and to promote community interest and engagement as they explore the world around them through photography, said Kerr.

The group is looking for donations of:

  • Used digital cameras with both auto and manual settings and a minimum of 12 megapixels (though a little more is usually a little better)
  • Photo supplies including photo paper, SD cards, etc.
  • Financial sponsorship to offset the purchase of equipment and supplies not donated
  • Snacks

The group is looking for (it isn't necessary to commit to attending every session):

  • Mentors who are familiar with basic camera settings and the use of Lightroom software to work with students as they edit their photos
  • People to accompany the group on a photo field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo, which is still being planned
  • Organizational helpers to assist with program administration

Contact the Rev. Renee McKenzie at reneemh177@gmail.com for more information, or to offer assistance.
