“Music and the Liturgy” will be the subject of the diocesan History Committee’s seventh annual fall forum. The Forum will explore, through an historical lens, the broad topics of how music and liturgy combine. It will also help us better understand how music contributes to and enriches our liturgy.
This year’s forum speakers are the Rev. Dr. Hillary Raining, rector of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Gladwyne; Michael Smith, minister of music at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, Whitemarsh; and Dr. Derrick Thompson, interim director of music at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Philadelphia. Surrounding the speakers will be music led by Andy Kotylo, music director at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Chestnut Hill, and performed by the parish’s critically acclaimed choir and by the Stephen Russell renovated Aeolian Skinner organ, which is highly respected and considered to be artistically significant.
For more information contact: Clark Groome (215-421-2416 or clark@groome.org). The forum will also be live-streamed on YouTube here.
