Bishop Deon Johnson

How can The Episcopal Church become welcoming to, and inclusive of, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) and queer people? What special needs do BIPOC and queer people have that the Church can help meet? These are vital questions for our Church in 2022. Join us for a very special conversation with the Right Reverend Deon Johnson, 11th Bishop of Missouri. He is the first openly gay Black man to serve as the diocese’s bishop in its 181-year history. We will talk with Bishop Johnson about his journey in faith, the opportunities and challenges he has faced as a Black gay man in the United States, and how these experiences can inform a vision for inclusivity in the Church. Ample time will be reserved for questions from event attendees. Join us for this unique opportunity to discuss some of the key social justice issues of our time with a trailblazing faith leader.

This event is sponsored by St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Roxborough in collaboration with the LGBTQIA+ Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania.

To RSVP for the event and receive the Zoom link, please email LGBTQIA@diopa.org.

(Your email address will be added to the LGBTQIA+ Committee's contact unless if you ask us not to do so. Thank you!)
