2021 Swarthmore Benefit

Trinity Episcopal Church, Swarthmore, will present tenor Colin Doyle and pianist James Smith in recital at 7:30pm on Sunday, Nov. 28 at the church. The program will be given both live and over YouTube to benefit Blume Haiti, a non-profit that seeks to develop young leaders in that country through music education. Trinity Church has a long association with music education in Haiti, and its choir traveled there several years ago to participate in joint performances with local groups.

The recital will include works by Donaudy, Richard Strauss, and Benjamin Britten. The centerpiece of the recital will be Franz Liszt's Three Petrach Sonnets, a work which calls for virtuosity and passion from both the singer and the pianist.

A limited number of audience seats will be available in person for vaccinated people. The suggested donation for the recital is $20, but larger donations (or smaller ones) are of course welcome. A Donate button will be available on the YouTube broadcast.

More information about the concert and performers, including the link for on-site seating and YouTube viewing, can be found at the Trinity Church website at http://www.trinity-swarthmore.org, and more information about Blume Haiti can be found at http://www.blumehaiti.org.
