The diocese has an 8-week chaplaincy program.

We are awaiting a new start date for this program.

The Episcopal Chaplaincy Program announces the kick-off for the inaugural class of their program, The Hospital Lay Chaplaincy Program on Tuesday, April 21 at St. Martin's in Radnor at 7 pm. This is the first in an 8 week class.

The mission of this program is to provide trained Lay Chaplains to visit the bedside of every hospitalized Episcopalian at least once before he or she is discharged.

This is a new ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania under the Episcopal Chaplaincy Program. The intent is to plant the program initially in one hospital and then expand it to all hospitals in the diocese over time. The training includes 8 weeks of classroom instruction followed by 12 weeks of mentored training. It is anticipated that candidates have already been involved in pastoral care in some form in their parish and this will expand their ministry. Candidates complete an application then have their parish clergy review and respond to the clergy portion of the application. The application can be found at https://stdavidschurch.org/hospital-lay-chaplaincy-program/ including the clergy instructional brochure for completing their portion of the application.

Applications should be scanned and emailed to Rev. Ken McCaslin at Kmccaslin@stdavidschurch.org or via mail at: Rev. Ken McCaslin, St. David’s Church, 763 South Valley Forge Road, Wayne, PA 19087.
