SUPERVISOR: Bishop of Diocese of Pennsylvania Board of Directors
SALARY: Negotiable Based upon Experience
STATUS: Part Time

MAJOR PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsibility for the general management of business, operations and activities of the Foundation.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Relative to the Foundation’s Investment Committee strategies and objectives, initiate and monitor all activity pertinent to management of the Consolidated Fund with outside investment managers, accounting and audit firms and the custodian bank (“Third Party Servicers”).
    • Ensure the Third Party Servicer’s performance of their duties.
    • Understand functions performed by Third Party Servicer’s and maintain regular contact and oversight of their performance.
    • Ensure the timely and accurate collection and distribution of income, settlement of investment transactions, quarterly valuations and production of supplementary records and reports through the custodian bank and the investment managers.
    • Ensure accurate and proper trust agreement records for every participant fund.
  2. Serve as staff and resource for the Board of Directors and its various Committees.
    • Apprise Investment Committee of current holdings, available cash and performance data on regular basis.
    • Initiate and prepare oral and written reports of Foundation and fund activities for quarterly Board meetings, other committees as necessary, and the annual Diocesan Convention.
    • Prepare agendas for quarterly meetings of the Directors.
    • Design and implement internal controls and systems for operations and coordination with Third Party Servicers.
    • Assure that distributions from funds are consistent with the terms of the applicable governing documents.
    • Meet with the Directors of the Foundation upon request.
    • Provide timely reports to the Directors for the quarterly meetings and upon request.
  3. Serve as spokesperson for the Foundation and personally engage in goodwill and business development activities. In consultation with the Investment Committee, answer questions, meet with and provide parishes with information regarding growth and performance of the Consolidated Fund and the advantages of being a participant in the Foundation.
  4. In concert with the Archdeacon’s office and Standing Committee, serve as advisor/coordinator for Diocesan property held in trust by the Foundation.
    • Coordinate sale or disposal of existing properties (closed parishes) while interfacing with Canon for Property, legal counsel, realtors and title companies.
    • Oversee zoning/re-zoning, easements, leasing and rights-of-way as they may occur for properties held in trust.
  5. Execute related management and administration duties as required.
    • Ensure appropriate staffing and training of office support personnel.
    • Recommend, prepare and control Operating Account annual budget. Negotiate fees with Third Party Service Providers, and various other necessary business contacts, e. g. realtors, appraisers, etc.
    • Prepare, publish and distribute the Foundation’s Annual Report.
    • Negotiate space and lease requirements with landlord for executive offices.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Executive level position in financial services organization providing familiarity with investments, regulatory issues, compliance matters and direct contact with the Board of Directors.
  • Executive level position managing professionals with responsibility for financial matters for a business enterprise
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the basic principles regarding fiduciary responsibilities for financial matters, such as trust accounting principles
  • Proven oral and written communication skills to effectively interface with Directors, clergy and church members, community officials, lawyers, brokers, custody bank managers and realtors/appraisers.
  • Familiarity with Diocesan Canons as they relate to real and personal property.
  • Preferred but not required – Resident in the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania, member of a Parish or Mission canonically connected with the Diocese.
