Icon Painting Class Now Forming
Many people find themselves drawn to the images of Byzantine iconography which are described as prayer rendered with color. Saint Philip’s invites you to learn about this sacred art from a master iconographer who is also our priest. Peter Pearson has been painting icons for nearly forty years, has been teaching for twenty years, and is the author of “A Brush With God: An Icon Workbook,” which offers technical, spiritual, and historical information about Byzantine icons specifically geared for Western readers.

Studying Your Congregation and Community
In order to know who you are, you need to examine where you are and where you have been. Looking at the social and demographic characteristics of the local community sheds light on the people to which we hope to minister. Looking at trends in membership, average worship attendance, and financial giving sheds light on congregational strength and whether current patterns indicate growth, decline or stability.

Liturgical Workshop on Praying the Hours
Sep 24 | 10-4pm | Philadelphia Cathedral
Christians have always prayerfully observed the daily transitions of time: pre-dawn, morning, noon, evening, and night. These have been celebrated in monasteries, cathedrals, parish churches and in the homes of believers throughout the ages as the church remembered the sacred nature of time and history, light and darkness. The power and prayer of these moments is largely lost to our culture.
